Is there any chance that editing forum posts could be allowed/enabled?

Being able to fix errors would improve the quality of the forum for everyone as far as I'm concerned.

I do.

I came back to a post of mine today and found that the picture links in it were now dead despite working for me when I posted them. I'd like to have been able to fix it.

I also sometimes spot errors or how things might be misinterpreted even having read the preview and would like to change them.

What for you is the downside of users being able to edit posts?

downside: it's boring if everyone can edit posts and maybe forum can become a mess to read. I like to read fucked up posts. perfection is boring and doesn't exist in this world. i am just a fan of only being able to post one time and it's done. it's just right the way it is now and makes users think before they click submit

A 5 minute window after posting to edit would be welcomed and is reasonable.

Forum could not turn into a mess with this.
But not even 1 sec is just really annoying! Plus: Some distant time ago we could edit out posts here. Why not anymore?

Not being able to edit posts is regressive and leads to miscommunication. Please fix this now. Even allowing 5 minutes after posting is reasonable!
